Hydraulic or manual clutch
I have a 87 iroc 5 speed... I just got the car last january... I thought that would of had a hydraulic clutch, but it has a manual clutch. Was 87 a year that still used manual clutches?

Re: Hydraulic or manual clutch
No, sure wasn't. 83 was the last year of that.
I'd like to see a photo of all that. Sounds like somebody went to ALOT of trouble to downgrade that car.

Re: Hydraulic or manual clutch

Generally with a mild Engine, and light Pressure-Plate... getting away with a Non-Power Assist Clutch, can be fine.
But with a more powerful Engine, and the firmer/ heavier Pressure-Plate that would be needed...
A Hydraulic/ Power Assisted Clutch is going to be much more enjoyable to drive.
Otherwise pushing the Clutch Pedal will feel like "lifting weights" with your Left leg.
I feel kids today have been spoiled by never having to actually "kick" the Clutch Pedal to shift the Transmission.
Most all powerful cars now have a Hydraulic Clutch!
Big Block, 4-Speed Cars, way back when... were a beast to shift!!!

Re: Hydraulic or manual clutch
I'd bet that was a chore to change that over. Does it look like a stock install? Is the transmission sitting at an angle? Ah, shoot a couple pictures, you got us curious.

Post pics for sure. Sounds like someone decided to make it "old school" same people who remove good EFI for a carb or downgrade to a TH350
