As the title states. First, I finally got the 700R4 in my 1984 Trans AM shifting properly to my desire.
Second, yesterday, I had the leaking Chinese shifter shaft seal replaced. The orig seal (1984 vintage) began leaking in late 2022. Had it replaced in April 2023 & had an Eaton posi installed at the same time to replace the peg leg..
Back in February this year, the replacement seal began leaking. I returned to the shop that did the replacement & they replaced that seal with a new. Looking at that the 1st replacement, it was so thin, no wonder is leaked. The mechanic called two diff suppliers & received two diff make of seals - the thin one again & a thicker one made at least that twice the thickness (depth-wise) . The mechanic stated that he just cannot get quality seals & gaskets as they are nothing but Chinese junk! beware guys!
