1984 Trans Am 700r4 Vin# ?

Does the 700R4 transmission for a 1984 Trans Am have a VIN# stamp ? All I can see is 1Y8227BT stamped on the pad ? Transmission looks original and owner told me its original but who knows ??

If the Identification Sequence that you Posted is close to correct, then these would be some potential answers...

The 1984 Coded THM700-R4 Transmissions should start with an: "11" or a: "4".

So I don't know if the sequence that you posted is missing a "1" (11Y8227BT) or if the "1" is really a "4"... (4Y8227BT).

The sequence "4Y8" for example would be for a Canadian Emissions coded 5.0L V8 F-Body.

Next the sequence should be ending in a: "D" or an: "N" for Day or Night shift... Not the letter: "T".

Actually, the more I go through this Sequence, the more I know that it is wrong.
Is there any way you could post an Image?

Looks to me like somebody ground something off and re-stamped something else in its place. Transmission shop for example.

The more I look at it, the first digit may be a 4 just part of the stamping is very light
