the rearend gears from a v6

i have the 350(TBI)with the th7004r tran. i have read that the v6 camaros have a 3.73 gear stock.is that true and if so can i go and buy just the gears or would it be the whole rearend drum to drum?


please help me this intrest me alot i really could use the extra jump of the line to turn my 295's. thanx alot i really hope this is not a fantasy!!!

you have your info a bit wrong. V6 cars came with either 3.23 or 3.42 gears, the 3.42's are more common. in the dark ages of the early 80's when they put 4-cyl engines in f-bodies(yes, it did happen) thhey came with 3.73 gears. the 4cyls are pretty rare cars, but if you can find one with the original rear you have found your self a cheap way into having het right gears.

Don't forget that the 80's rears had 26spline axles while the 90 thru 92's had 28spline axles. This is only a problem if you wish to use a new take off posi unit from SLP.
