Hmmm...what to do?
I recently started restoring my '84 Camaro. My uncle was the original owner and passed away in 1998. He took good care of the car and wasn't very hard on it. BTW, it's a 305 LG4 with the 700R4 tranny. OK...here's the deal. The car has 215,000 miles on the original transmission. The transmission still shifts smoothly...but I'm just wondering how much longer this thing could last! Do ya'll think I'm riding on borrowed time or would it be just as well to wait for a rebuild/replacement until it starts "talking" to me? Thanks for all replies!

might as well wait till it dies, it probably isn't much of a race car anyway right?
Wait till it starts slipping and don't abuse it, also watch the tranny fluid.

You're absolutely right...it's no speed demon. The engine was rebuilt about 15,000 miles back, so it has lots of get-up-and-go, but my little Neon will run circles around it. I'm restoring the Camaro back to stock/showroom as a nice cruiser. The tranny isn't leaking or acting funny, so I'll probably leave well enough alone. After all, I guess there really isn't much point of fixing something that isn't broken.
