What rear end do I have?

I have an '88 Iroc, 350, four wheel disc, 2.77 ratio, and posi.

I was told I have a certain rear-end that is impossible to find parts for and if my posi is out I better just find a new rear.

Is this true?

Engine: 427 BBC

Transmission: T400

You have the high performance option borg warner 9 bolt. I have new series 3 posi carriers, gear ratios up to 4.10 and other stuff available for the 9 bolt. All the info is on my page at www.koolmeister.com

Thanks I'll keep that in mind, in might be a month or two before I can replace anything.

Oh, also. You didnt answer if in fact this rear IS rare and hard/expensive to find parts for.
