PLease tell me I didnt hurt my transmission

Today I put my trans into reverse and stepped on the gas and all of a sudden my car wouldn't go anywhere for a second and jerked back and forth REALLY hard a few times and then caught and reversed normally . Could the shifter have not been all the way into reverse? Could that have caused that jerking?? I didn't even think to look at the shifter till after I turned off the car so that is why Im asking if that could have caused that.

Also another possibility is I was in a hurry so I might of also threw it into reverse without coming to a complete stop and then hit the gas before it fully shifted into reverse. Would that cause the car to jerk back and forth like that until it caught????

Could either of those two situations have caused my car to jerk back and forth really hard like that?????

If it was one of those did I ruin anything???????????

I do that all the time, put it in reverse while moving slowly forward, it'll cause it to jerk like that, you should try not to do it too often but it won't hurt anything.

A slightly low fluid level may have contributed. Have you checked it?
