Car: 1991 Camaro Z28
Engine: 350 TPI
Transmission: 700R4
Supporting 450-500 horsepower

Friend of mine just bought an engine that is expected to be making around 450-500 horsepower. What would be the cheapest way to get a rearend under the car that could support that. Remember, cheapest being the keyword.

Also, is the 700R4 factory internals different between V6 cars and V8 cars.

A lot of people have run stock 10bolts into the 11's. There is a good tech article on how to beef up the 10bolt. There is another guy on the board that has a bunch of 9 bolt parts if that is the rear end that you have. Basically, it depend on how hard you plan on launching it. If you serious are going to get 500+hp and plan to lift the front tires off the ground on your lauch, there is no alternative then to spend some cash in a good unit. But if you take it easy with it, it will last longer than I think you would expect.

I had an article of a guy that was in the high 10's with a stock 10 bolt with c-clip eliminators and I think just the cover with the brace built in it. Bottom line, just build it cheap and run it till you break it. Just have a rev limiter on the car.
