whiney rear
i've noticed when im driving especially on the parkway and i let my foot off the gas i hear a whining sound coming from the rear end. when i hit the gas it goes away.
i changed the rear end fluid yesterday and did not notice any metal in the fluid or visible damage (didn't really know what to look for anyway lol) im preparing to hear my rear end is toast is it affirmative??

It depends.
Some types of ring and pinion gears (Richmond) are known to whine exactly the way you are describing.
Your gears may not be aligned properly, but if that was the case you would probably have more serious problems depending on how long its been driven since any work was done.
I think GM sells an additive that is supposed to help prevent this, but I don't know the name or how well it works.

i brought the car to a shop yesterday to have it check out.
the mechanic didn't see any damage to the gears he said it can possibly be some seal in the axle or something like that cause when it was on the lift he took the driver back tire and was able to wiggle it up and down just a bit and the passenger side was tight does this make sense before i pay him to do it.
Also when i brought the car in it was only making noise when i took my foot off the gas and now it's making noise all the time.
thanks
