IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TORQUE ARM BRACKET BROKE, IT SHOULD BE MOUNTED TO THE SIDE OF THE TRANNY.

More than likely your torque arm has indeed come loose. It (the bracket) probably hasn't broken, since that would take an enormous amount of torque. What probably happened is the top bolt on the bracket backed out due to vibration. This happened to mine several times. If you're lucky, the bracket half is still hanging there with the bolt through it. Just pull the torque arm down and into the bracket and tighten the bolt back into the tail shaft. I'd use a lock washer to keep it from happening again.

If the bolt is gone, which is very likely if it happened while driving, just go buy another one. I don't remember the size, but it is DEFINITELY English NOT metric. There's a metric size that will appear to fit, but will be very slightly loose. This will cause the bolt to strip out the hole on the tranny. This also happened to me. Beware...
