For the 700R4 trans we are rebuilding, it currently has a B&M shift kit, which means a number of holes were enlarged in the valve body spacer plate. We now want to install the TransGo kit & it seems unlikely the same modifications are required to the VB spacer plate. The questions are:
1) Does the TransGo kit specify redrilling the spacer plate? If so, what holes to what size?
2) By any chance does the TransGo kit come with a new spacer plate?
3) If I need to start with a new factory spacer plate, what is a source for them besides a GM dealer?
Thanks, FJK

I happen to be working through a kit install right now.

The answer won't be very simple, because the holes that are drilled or blocked off change depending upon which valve body design you have. And, no, the kit does not come with a new plate, just new gaskets.

The Transgo shift kit drills and blocks holes in the plate, drills and/or blocks off holes in the valve body, and plugs holes in the case. Your best bet would be to call Dana at Pro Built and talk it all over with him. He'll need to know what you have now, so have the parts in front of you when you call. He may have a plate for you as well.

He knows these trannies frontwards and backwards, as well as the Transgo products. He may even know what B&M did to the tranny and what you need to do to undo the damage.

B&M has you drill the second gear feed hole to large .125. I should be able to get you a plate, but I will need to know the letter code on the plate (to match it). It will have a 2-letter code near the rear next to the window in the VB plate. The hole sizes for the Trans-Go Shift kit vary from .086 - .187. Let me know?
