torque converter recommendations please
Subject pretty much sums up what I'm looking for. I have the motor out of my car and figure it would be a good time to replace the stock TC. I have a vortec headed 357 with a 454 tbi and injectors and a Comp XE262 cam (218/224@.050 and .462/.469 lift). I'm also running an open 2.73 as of right now. Desktop Dyno rates it at 360hp at 5000rpm and 400ft/lbs at 2000 but I'm thinking more realisticly at probably around 330 hp and 370 ft/lbs. How much stall speed would I need for optimum performance with a setup like this? I'm looking to spend less then 300 bucks but I have a feeling that I'm gonna have to spend a bit more. Also, does anyone have a time differences before and after an added stall? Thanks for any help.
I would recommend the A.C.T. 9.5" lockup with a 2,400-2,500 rpm stall, it takes off about 17 lbs. in weight, & it sells for $565.00, comes with a one year warranty and a free stall change if needed/desired. Give me a call if I can be of help?
