700R4 or T5?

I want a 5 speed, but I want it to be able to take a little punishment now and then. I can get a T5, but what can it be build to take?(max horse and torque). Would be better to stick with the 700R4 and build it up? Also how much can a built 700R4 take?
Thanks
Dave

Someone will say it

Someones going to say it, so I figured it might as well be me. Get a T56. A stock T56 from'94-'97 can handle 450 ft/lbs, and a '93 can handle 400 ft/lbs. '98-up I'm not sure about, but there that much harder to install into a thirdgen. I'm going to post a price list for every thing needed for the T56 swap here in a few minutes.
