what series carrier is my rear end??

what series carrier is my rear end??

have have an 89 iroc-z with a 5.7l tpi. and want to put new gears in the rear end but iam not sure what size carrier i have to get the correct part #

i have 2.77 gears stock with a borg-warner rear end!

Transmission: T400
You have a series 2 carrier with 2.77 gears. The only other gear that will fit is a 3.08. With a series 3 carrier you can go up to 4.10.

BUt cant i buy gears that fit for 3.08 carrier like 4.10 gears. if i swap gears do i have to get a new install kit??

Nope, not with a 9 bolt. Series 2 gears fit series 2 carriers and series 3 gears fit series 3 carriers. And an install kit highly recommended with any gear swap unless you have a supply of differential parts on hand.
