Well , I finally changed my cap and rotor this afternoon .The weather was nice , not to hot and I was tired of being inside studying !! I took the cap and rotor off , no problem ! As Im putting my plugwires back on my rotor , it looked like my wire by the EGR valve was loose , sure enough it was so I took it off , checked the boot out (to see how my heat sleeves are working )
I had changed that boot to an Ac delco , but it still have my Accel wire on it .I decided to go ahead and check the other wire on the other side of the EGR . The boot was shot !!! And I had a heat sleeve on it ! A Taylor heatsleeve which stands 1200 heat !!! I took the wire off , the wire was just fine , but boot , pretty much shot to hell ! The boot on the end where it was burned even felt sorta like play do (spelling ??) So I got one of my old AC delco wires out of the trunk and put an Ac delco boot on my accel wire again ! This heat sleave on the #3 boot even looks almost shot to hell , the sleeve has been stretched out alot , almost looks like a small sock !:sillylol: a dirty one at that ! and threads are pulling off the sleeve even . So after I get this boot back on . I figure , why not check the #5 boot .This boot was starting to dis-color with white and had alot of hairline cracks in it !!! I could not belive this !!!! b/c when you pay $50 for plugwires you expect them to last longer than 4 and 1/2 months !!! So I did the same thing for that one as I did the others .I checked my 2,4,6 on the drivers side and all were just fine , with hardly any wear whatsoever ! THANK GO D ! I guess all the driving I do , its just to much heat on them on the EGR side ! I drive for 2 hours a day (interstate driving) doing 80 and sometimes 90 ....doing 90 - Don't try this on your hometown roads ! I guess I spoke to soon about the accel wires being so great ! Or maybe I need to get some real good heatsleeves !I thought my taylor ones were good enough , apparently not ! The accel boots compared to my good ole ac delcos look like cheap crapola though .The ac delcos just look like good quality . When I took those ac's off , only one of the boots had crapped out , all the rest were still good ! I think my ac boots well last ! The #1 boot which is ac lasted longer than the accels already !!! As for as my accel wires go , they are still holding up and looking great !
