My buddey has a 305 carb complet stock and he wants to race my 2.8 carb and i was wonderin if i had a chance agenst him in a race my 2.8 is complety stock also. I was also wonderin what how much would a tune up help me.

 

Sad to say, you will get creamed. I had both an LG4 and a carbed 2.8 at the same time, and that 305 would rip my 2.8 a new one. On a stretch of road near my house i can hit 31 with the 2.8 and could hit 46 with the 305, from a dead stop. Of course Ill admit my 305 was less stock than the 2.8, but Id say you dont stand a chance. Oh and for the record, on that same stretch, my 350'd bird will hit 59. And that was in the rain :-D
