Yep, it's going to be 1/4 panel time soon! I finally hooked the gas bottle up to my MIG welder, and did some practice welding over the weekend- wow, what clean welds! Compared to flux-core mig welding, there's almost no spatter, no cleanup, the welds look smoother- I'm impressed. I was even able to weld 1/16" steel without burning through. (flux core needs more electricity, and burns through thin sheetmetal) So a little more practice, and I should be good to go with welding thin stuff. I might try to weld my own welder cart - I can't believe how much heavier the welder is with a 12 pound spool (compared to a 1 pound wire spool) inside!
Nobody had any quarter panels by me, though. 'Fact, my usual f-body junkyard only had ONE camaro. The thing was pretty damn stripped, too. One bummer- it had the cargo area cover- but some jerk bent it when they wedged a tire over the rear folding seatback. Dammit! (sigh)
