Plenium Spacer material???

Well after a week of reading I see Tom P is the man around here and I guess this is the right thrad to address you/him?????

So Tom

Plenium Spacer material???

I have a hankering to make a plenium spacer for my 2.8
I have done the TB coolant bypass.

It is only air flow so any material should work, long as it seals.
But what would be the best store bought material that would flow little heat form the lower to the upper plenium.

Also I will find longer bolts and make a heat spacer/washer for them, so the bolts do not transfer heat from bottom to top.

Not sure about the plenum spacer material; I've heard of some guys using wood between their carb & intake manifold, it's supposed to be one of the best, but wood screams "fire!" to me! I don't know how many of those wood spacers are for "racetrack only" use, and not "stuck in traffic on a 100 degree day" use. I like your idea better than a TB spacer; seems like it would be more effective. You might want to flip through a summit catalog or search the net, sometimes a carb spacer will mention the material its made out of.

Dustin, I don't quote HP, because I haven't run on a dyno. I don't believe in making BS claims about HP. Nothing I did cost me anything to put on, because I do it all myself. I buy the parts and put them on. So if you want to know how much it is to install a muffler, you're asking the wrong guy, and I'd probably yell at you to "do it yourself"!

Motor:
original 234,000 mile 2.8 V6
major tuneup (everything!) performed yearly
MSD 6AL/Blaster SS/Super Conductor 8.5mm wires/Accel cap
Rebuilt distributor (not a real "mod" per se, but worth doing!)
Dynomax Super Turbo catback, PFP high flow cat, AP mandrel bent Y-pipe, bored out manifold-to-y-pipe "donuts"
Cloyes true dual roller timing chain
homemade ram-air/cold-air intake using a K&N conical filter
fuel injectors serviced by Rich at http://www.cruzinperformance.com
third fuel pump (talk about a pain in the butt job!)
dressup stuff (blue anodized caps/dipstick handles, hose sleeving, etc)
removed the air conditioning compressor/condensor/accumulator

Trans:
third 700r4 trans
B&M Megashifter Shift Improver kit/4-3 kickdown valve/supercooler
Summit remote trans filter

Rear:
'88 3.42/open/drum rear, temporarily replacing the '84 3.73/posi/disc rear that I rebuilt (posi blew out, dammit!)
Air shocks
P275/60r15 tires, 15x8 rims
trans am rear sway bar (21mm), using EnergySuspension poly end links & greaseable poly sway bar mounting bushings

Front:
Energy Suspension poly end links & sway bar mounting bushings
Monroe Sensatrac struts
P225/60r15 tires, 15x8 rims

My 1/4 run in '97 (with no mods and a poorly running motor, the trans died a month later) was 16.87. My last 1/4 run in '00 (is that right? can't be. wow.) was a 17.04. My only guess? The engine mileage is killing my 1/4 times.

How much value would you give a 3:73 posi? I could get a drum one that came of an 80s cutlass? Dude said he paid 300 for it.

Down side is , it has 14 inch rims, could be too narrow or long, and it has all the wrong brackets.

I paid $150 for mine. If I were you, I'd avoid that Cutlass axle.
