Help please
I have a lifter tapping, and I need to pull my drivers side valve cover to tighten the rocker. Problem is, I can't see a way to remove the valve cover without removing the entire intake. Has anyone does this successfully? Is there a way I'm not seeing?
Thanks for the help.

Billy,
Yeah, ya gotta bite it.
HAVE TO
Remove both upper & Middle.
TIP, TRY Marvel Mystery Oil, poured thru the REMOVED upper intake, down thru the middle intake into the engine.
POUR SOME thru each hole.
SOME! NOT TONS, but equal amounts.
Reassemble and try engine. GOOD LUCK
PS Yep, IT'll smoke...
Good luck!
Tranny fluid is also good choice, too! Does same, it's a detergent agent.

Yeah man, I don't see how it could be done... buy a roll of flat black gasket material to cut new gaskets after you're done! I would say to reassemble the intake with the old gaskets, and when you're sure the problem's fixed, take it back apart, and put the new gaskets on.
One problem- since you'll have to remove the fuel rail, you might want to replace the fuel injector o-rings. I bet they'll tear (from age) when you pull the fuel rail out. You can buy a box of 'em at parts stores, I -think- the part# is SK-10, by Standard. You can't buy new pintle caps though, but supposedly, they're not needed. You could ask on the tech board about 'em. The pintle caps are likely to crack when you remove the old o-rings. Make sure to put new engine oil on the new o-rings, and even put some oil on your finger and rub it inside the injector holes of the intake manifold. This helps prevent the o-rings from tearing as the injectors go back in.
