The vibes are finally gone!!!!

Some of you may remember me posting about a problem with a nasty engine vibration showing up a little while after my 700R4 to T5 swap. The vibes started at about 2K RPMs and got worse from there.

I got suggestions for possible problems ranging from ignition to fuel to bad main bearings (this one almost gave me nightmares )

The solution was to put on the ~20lb rear damper (#2 in the pic below) that Gm says should only be on the 2.5l engines. The damper came from the donor car but since it was not supposed to be for this engine I left it off and kinda forgot about it.

Now the car runs smooth as glass... at least as smooth as a 16 year old car can be This car has no idea how close it came to being a pile of scrap metal.

Now I get to start masking it off for the final round of painting. Color and Clear coat, here I come! WooHoo!

No, he clearly stated he needed to add it after the swap for auto to stick.

I took it off when I first did the swap because 1)no one else on here said they had one 2) there wasn't one on my automagic that was in the car and 3) The book says it is for the 2.5l.

Tonight I put it back on and all the vibes disappered and I have my old car back!

Unfortunately, while the Bird was down I have been driving my Corvette around. Now when I hop back in the Bird it feels sooo sloooww. Oh well, at least it handles pretty darn good.
