That is of course if you have time, in the ongoing quest to have my 85 GMC jimmy mpfi fully functional... hell functional at all for that matter, anyone with the mpfi 2.8 liter engine tell me what fuses you need to have in your car fr it to run... crank, ecm, and fuel pump i believe, but i would like confirmation, i have then engine in, the wireing and accessories layed, now all i need is to know on the large driverside plug what wires to leave alone and what wires to fuse together, thanks in advance Matt Manglos... the car /wiring harness is an 85 2.8 firebird mpfi auto, the gmc jimmy is an 85 5spd 4x4.
You SHOULD only need the listed fuses in, but sometimes you never know those damn GM engineers may have thrown a curve. best thing is to get a readout diagram and check to make sure you have whst you need. You might need the Acc fuse too. And going with an auto harness into a manual vehicle is troublesome. is the complete harness in the truck or?... meaning does inside the truck have the manual and the outter is auto?. Or did you swap the entire engine harness?. If you swapped the entire harness you SHOULD have no probs.
What is the engine doing now? cranking and nothing? do you have all the sensors in? have you checked codes?(taking for granted the entire harness and comp have been swapped over)

I was looking into doing that swap. After dealing with this 3.1l I think all I would have to do is change the wire harness on top then engine (injecotors only come out as 2, same as a 2.8l) and then extend the tps, temp, etc. Please let me know how this turns out. Do you have a repair manual for both rides, they will have a wiring diagram in the back.
