a couple good thing to do to dress up your engine are a set of edelbrock chrome valve covers while you have your valve covers off i would recomend a set of comp cams 1.6 roller tip rockers. also you can take off your top intake piece and have it chromed or painted the same color as your car.

Another fun thing to do is put on the anodized caps and dipstick handles. All mine are made by Spectre. I have an andodized oil fill cap, radiator cap, trans dipstick handle, and oil dipstick handle. I had an anodized p/s cap but the cap vibrated off the dipstick (I guess they didn't crimp it well enough) and I never bothered to re-order it. I got 'em from Summit a few years ago, not sure if they still carry spectre. Oh yeah, they're anodized blue, to match the car. I've also got the Russell fake stainless-steel hose cover kit, with blue anodized fittings. The Russell kit comes with enough hose cover to do the lower radiator hose, the Spectre kit doesn't.
Oh yeah, they do have 'em, just need to know part #s:
SPE-1796 = P/s cap, blue
SPE-1798 = P/s cap, chrome
SPE-1792 = P/s cap, red, but not avail thru summit? Oh, Jegs's site says it's discontinued by the manufacturer. Hey, weird, http://www.spectreperformance.com is, uh, erased? That's weird. Is the company still in business? I can't even find a part # for an oil cap or dipstick handle. Strange.
The dipstick handles were cool, two parts. One part was the piece you put your hand on. The other was a bushing. You cut your dipstick handle off (with a hacksaw) a half inch from the base of the handle. Then you slid the bushing on, and used pliers to crimp the handle- this keeps the bushing in place. Then you screw the handle onto the bushing. TIP: Use loctite threadlocker on the bushing threads. I lost the trans dipstick handle due to vibration, and had to order another one.
Summit is also making their own hose cover kit, it's cheaper than the Russell kit, but won't have enough for the lower rad hose. But I think Summit sells the individual braid covers, you'd order by type of hose (heater hose, radiator hose, vacuum hose, etc.) They definately sell the clamp covers separately. When I hooked up my B&M trans cooler and Summit remote trans filter, I used braided steel hose (the cover was bonded to the hose, but guess what, I still didn't buy stainless steel! Haha) and bought blue Spectre clamp covers.
Which springs & rebuild kit are you talking about? Suspension, or engine? As to next mods, hm... you could do a homemade intake, or add a hotter (higher voltage) coil. Or, you could rebuild the distributor, using an AC module or the Holley module, #891-103 (Summit = HLY-891-103 for $60).
How do you like the KYB's?

Hey Tom, have you ordered one of those Holley ignition control modules? Last I knew you were thinking about getting one. I ordered one from Summit yesterday for my '89 RS (along with a MSD Blaster GM coil and some MSD Superconductor wires) - I'll let you know if I see any improvement. I needed a new ICM so I figured I would get that one for $60 instead of spending $60-$65 locally to get a stock AC/Standard ICM.
Confucius: Yes, I too am curious about the KYB shocks/struts. I need new struts for my '87, the '89 could use 'em too.
Anyhow, seeing as this is my first post, I might as well say hello to everyone too. I've been lurking around here for the past month or so, getting tips, hints, and learning. I've really enjoyed all the helpful stuff posted, and a big thanks to all the shared experience from TomP, KED85, etc.
My cars:
1987 Camaro SC, 2.8L V6, 5-speed manual, white.
1989 Camaro RS, 2.8L V6, 5-speed manual, maroon/burgandy w/ metallic flakes/can't-describe-color
.
No real mods at this time - just been taking care of them. I've driven the '87 since August of 2001 and love these cars. Just bought the RS in June and am just about done fixing a few little problems (better maintanence by the previous owner would have helped avoid these).
Got to go, I will have to post next chance I get - got a few questions.

Well hey, welcome to the "active" board, from lurking status!
I haven't used one myself, I have a $60 borg-warner module, but that was before the Holley unit came out. At the time, the only module available was Accel, and I'm not a fan of them (damn U-groove plugs, damn cap-rotor). The Accel one for V8 TPI remote HEI ignitions will also fit, but I don't know the part #. I want to put a Holley one in eventually, though, right now I've got a 1/4 panel to replace.
But I can remember a guy that tried it: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=61756 I coulda sworn someone else is using it; I did a search, but can't find it.
