cooling hoses

I just got new radiator hoses for my V6 thru a mail order house but they don t realy seem to fit. i checked the numbers and they match but the hoses look quite different than in the picture of the Haynes manual. My Pontiac is a 89. Has anyone had the same problem. Are there different radiator versions. I really could need some advice since the old ones are really messed up.

How do they compare versus your hoses on there now? Is it you cant get them to fit because the I.D. is too small? If thats it, try lubricating the inside of the hose a little and then it should just slide right on... if its not that, post more info.

The old hoses are cut up and fixed the cheap way with some piping(the previous owner did that) so I can t really tell how theyshould look like. But with the new hoses the upper radiator hose is tooshort and the lower one is totally different. However the one on the picture in the Haynes manual on page 6-2 looks like the one I would need. I don t know why I didn t get that Mine is pretty much the same engine although I have a different intake system and on my intake manifold there is the 2.8 MPFI emblem.
