Good catch....

The one place I usually go to has a monthly pull-a-thon. One pays $25 to go in and whatever you can carry out is yours. I once got a door, dashpad, and some other stuff for $25. Another time at the yard I got a TPS for my wife's Metro ($100 new, impossible to find used) and stumbled across a Berlinetta in the yard. Was able to scoop it up with the other Metro parts for $20

I got A factory Positive Traction rear end out of a 1976 Trans Am for $55 once. Later I found out when I opened the case that it had 2.41 gears!

I also scored, basically an entire front clip off of a 1984 Trans Am, including hood and front ground effects, for $100, and it didn't have any rust or dents!

The best value deal I ever got has to be the transmission I got for my friend's FWD turbo Dodge. I got a New Process A555 5 speed transaxle with a 3.85 final drive ratio for $35 bucks, and it is in perfect cond! The 555 is the strongest one they made, and it is the one that the Shelby Dodge guys always look for.

hmmm, i'm thinking it's my perfect condition center counsole and lid, costs 165 bux new, and foudn a perfect one for 15 bux. There are some seats at the same yard, but i don't think they're worth picking up, the back seats look good, but the fronts are a tad worn, they would have been a great find if you got there on the first day. They're black leather trans am seats, but in a 3rd gen camaro (someone swapped em), a beautiful set, wasted away because no one got em soon enough.

I'd have to say the "full gauge instrument panel", with VSS sender and buffer, and water temp sensor, for $0.

Either that, or the fenders and bumper off an '85 Firebird for $50.

Happiest find? The '84 3.73/posi/disc axle for $150.

Biggest bummer? Two of 'em; finding out the first 3.73/posi/disc axle I found was gone when I went back for it the next day, and last week, having the pinion shaft lock bolt snap on me when I was going after 28 spline axleshafts. I hope that car's still in the yard, I want to go back this weekend with a sledge and some cold chisels.

Oh, wait, no- happiest find, the entire rear half of an '86 Firebird for $150!

Not a junkyard, but a swapmeet: A perfect 91 Formula front bumper cover... for $20. The guy was asking $30 and I actually talked him down. I guess he didn't know that they cost like $600 new.

The funny part is that we were selling at the same swapmeet (right across the aisle from the guy) and I stared across at the thing the entire day- assuming he wanted big bucks for it. It wasn't until about 4pm that I asked about it. It coulda been yours!

Two 127749 ECMs with harness pigtails for 10 bucks each. Best deal so far was a 88 GTA with a 5.7, rebuilt 700R4, new radiator but with a rebuilt 5.7, that cracked for a grand. Parted it out, kept all the good suspension, sway bar, steering box, TPI,tranny, all electrics and sold the rest for 800.

Re-Bone yard finds

Guys I have been looking for two years for a 91/92 Firebird
that wasn't smashed in the front. Finally on Friday the Post office let me off early so I made my trek to the yards and what did I find. A 92 Firebird with minor damage on the the left rear quarter panel. But the only reason the car was there was the the Differential was toast. I got the entire front bumper cover with all the support hardware both headlight assemblies parking lamps. all for $150.00 I consider it a day well spent. My son went yesterday and got the drivers seat for $35.00 and that is the one with two levers one for tilting and the other for back and forth.. If any of you are in the San Diego area the car is at the pick a part in Chula Vista in the Primo lot. Hood, T-tops, Dashpad doors Practically the entire car. Plus it is a 305 tbi Automatic.

I'd like to know what the heck is wrong in my town. Half the places won't even let us pull stuff, the others have stripped EVERYTHING of ANY use out of the cars. I've been lookong for an upper intake plenum for my '91 for months (over torqued the TB ) and the best I can find is like $600 from the dealer. Who woulda thought that in West Texas you wouldn't find a place to pull parts. Best find btw was a pinto wagon that me and a couple friends are gonna work on just for fun for $275 with almost running engine. those things look odd but unique.

hmm ... there is a junkyard around me .... it has a berlinetta in it , its actually the only berlinetta 3rd gen ive ever seen ... with bout 5 other 3rd gen camaros... there was only one firebird until a couple weeks ago ( good thing 4 out of 5 of my cars are camaros ) .. there was a pretty nice trans am in there.. some idiot junked it i guess.. i got the velcro style t top bag and the velcro close glove box map pocket thing.

the berlinetta has a digital dash ... im not sure if it works or not , but would it be worth my time to take it out? and if so , how hard is it and what all else do i need to take with it ? like the computer or anything? and what would be a good price to pay for the dash?

The Berlinetta uses a completely different wiring harness so just about everything needs to go including the heater controls and possibly the ducting. I would say if you could get it for about 100 for everything would be a good price. BUT these dashes were not known for long haul reliability so unless you can hook up a battery and test it out I would let it be.

Best thing i found so far was a 78 Camaro i obught for 150 buck to restore and wound up parting it out for a bunch more. I sold the sub frame for 150, a functional factory cowl induction hood with fthe flaps that open when you nail on the gas for 50 (it came free with the car) Sold the guages with the tach(hard to find) 60 bucks, n other miscallanious parts.

Another thing i have found is takeing vlave covers off thease stupid rice rocket eclipses, getting them for 2 or 3 bucks, polishing them with a dremel, and sellin them on ebay for $150.

I also paid 20 dollars for a door with working power window, all interior panal trim, and wireing for 20 bucks. I hunt through junkyards all the time in my area. Unfortunalty only a few allow you to go through them yourself
