Going from an 84 Carb to 88 Fuel Injection 2.8

The block in my 84 camaro is toast. I found an 88 2.8L for $400 with warranty.

If i did this swap and just took the Fuel Injection stuff off and slapped on my old carb and intake would i need to replace anything else?
The reason I ask this is because my fuel pump goes into the block on my 84 but the pump is in the gas tank on the 88.

Another possible alternative was if I just kept the Fuel Injection. After all it is an extra 15hp. What would i need to get this to work ( Computer, Wire Harness, ect?)

On my old engine the heads, intake, and carb are all good. I just had the heads refinished.

If you set the 88 motor next to the 84 motor after it's removed, all you must do is transfer everything off of the 84 to the 88. If you change the front timing cover, you'll be able to use the fuel pump off the 84. However, I would change the fuel pump, have the heads done, and put a new timing chain in there for good measure.

If you decide to convert to MPFI, you will need the computer, wiring harness and every other little piece that attaches to the MPFI motor. Some people on the board have done it, so they could tell you more of the details.

just grab everything out of a 2.8v6 88-87 camaro. also make sure to use the mpfi cam with the mpfi system. ive had big time tunning problems with the s-10 motor i swapped the mpfi setup onto. it turns out that the carb motors had a very different cam profile and it makes getting it running a bit of a bitch. so in short find a junk car with good electronics and grab everything interiror harss everything.

You won't win.
It will end up being a hack butcher job.
IF you went the other block to carb (as I am in my Blazer) you'd win.
Only need swap in a carter 6 lb electric fuel pump & be gone.
For the effort of the wiring nightmare........
Do yourself a favor.
Go find a V-8 car for about $300 & have fun.
This swap mission isn't worth the effort.
Really NOT being harsh, but, realistic.
I mean, want an education?
Go to the wrecking yards & examine the wiring.
Now duplicate it exactly on your swap project & make it functional & reliable.
Go find a really decent for the money 3rd gen V-8 ride.
Will be so worth it in the end of ALL your hard earned effort.
For the BS you think of, Find a really great running V-8 & matching tranny, check your local smog laws for this legal (if your state says so) swap and toss in the V-8.
You only need obtain V-8 frame mounts/motor mounts and that's it!
In that sense, you'll win!
