If you're going to dragrace someone, and you have t-tops, do you think it would be better to take them off for weight loss, or to you thing the loss of aerodynamics would offset the gain too much?

I suppose it depends on what kind of speed you're going to hit in the race....
They have some guy down here who drag races a 80s style mustang convertible with the top down and he has a rollcage in it , its hilarious to see him flying down the track with the top down and the rollcage around him !

Well, I don't race my car so I wouldn't know, however, I do feel a SLIGHT difference when I am driving on the highway with the T-tops off. It seems to slow me down just a tad. Maybe I am wrong, it could just be I drive a little slower with them off, or a little faster with them on.
Seems like alot of air goes through the car with them off though.

At highway speeds, I'm sure they catch a lot of air with them off...definitely bad for aerodynamics. But like aaroedg said, it's not enough of a difference to count.. If you really want a better difference, take all the crap out of your trunk, remove your jack and spare tire, and run your car with an open throttle body..no intake assembly whatsoever...just watch out for dirt, dust, and pebbles!!!

And...if you're actually crazy enough to do that..I am NOT responsible for any damages incurred to your engine!

Finally I'm back on. PC was down since sunday.
Yeah I figured the weight reduction would help on initial take off, just not sure what speed the aerodynamics would get too bad.
I haven't ever partaken in a planned race anyway. If i did, I would take out the amp, subwoofer, toolbox, spare tire, hydraulic floor jack, bottle jack, funnel, tire chains, electric air compressor, extra oil and water, rags, cds, stereo, seats (except for driver's of course), brody ****, take a #1+2, skip breakfast and lunch, clip my fingernails, get a haircut, and wear no clothes.....(ok i'd wear shorts and tshirt at least), but no shoes.
That should get me ahead
sorry, i'm sick and the nyquil and robitussin are effecting me
