i need options........

ok so i'm still fu(king runing only 120 so miles on a full tank of gas............

the ses light is and has been flashing on and off at random
for the past few months now with no real patters that i could find
it just turns on when it feels like it.........

last month i (paid) to get the computer read and exhaust checked out. the bad thing was that my batt had died on me the week befour so my computer was totaly clean no errors
but his test did show that i had a lazy O2 sensor so
i changed it right away but i'm still getting the same millige and now i'm getting really strong fumes to boot.......

The only reason i did not go for the V8 was b/c of the price of gas now a days

ok so i just tried to pull the codes from the dsl conector
as per the link to the tech sheet you all gave me a few weeks ago

but all i kept getting is a 12 code
i sat there for like 10 min......
i gave it three tries but it just keeps flashing the same 12

what did i do wrong?

my uncle say's it's b/c of the headers and exhaust i put on but if thats the case why are all of you getting twice the miles????????????????

ok what should i look for.......

if it's not a problem that the computer will help me identify

what else should i be looking at.......

the only thing we could see as a problem
is my old water pump that needs to be changed
every thing else seems fine

but then i reallt do not know much about cars again so

You sure you didn't get a code 13 mixed in with the code 12's??

Also, if your SES light came on recently but there are no codes...i might suspect the PCM. It will usually take about 50 cold starts for the PCM to erase a code from history.

Oh yeah, since you mentioned exhaust, an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor can really screw with the sensor. It will think the car is running lean and dump more fuel in. Check timing too.
