Can this be right?!!
Can this be right?!!
Im selling my 92 Heritage edition camaro..I looked up Nada value on it and it has it LOW priced at 8000..this cant be right? by the way, for those interested in buying it..
1992 Arctic White w/ Red stripes
just over 100K on the clock (i only put 4K on the car)
New items-
Floor pans, Thermostat, new Goodyear GT II Rubber, Exhaust(stock, not aftermarket) from the cat back, 4x6 Speakers up front to give it that extra little bump to the stereo.
Interior is in good condition, not quite mint but for a 12 year old car this is damn good condition. I was working on restoring it back to great condition and then dropping in a 350 or crate. Car is automatic.
Problem areas- Pass. side door has a crease, 100 to replace the door from 3rd gen resource. Along with the crease, the wheel well is slightly dented, needs to be pulled out. I'm currently grinding out a few rust spots as the car was a PA car before i purchased it so i've been battling a war with rust since i bought it. Could use a new paintjob but for those detail buffs..im sure if you wetsanded it over a weekend, you could give it a good shine. Car is about 90% Restored. I just dont have the funds to finish the job as im going to college in the fall. If anyone wants info on the car, my email is stodog55@yahoo.com or you can IM on me aim uinder the screen name FLAWED55.
Let me know what you guys think about this NADA thing..look it up yourselves if you want to..nada.com

Ouch is right (more like Upsidedown) I would never recommend investing money into restoreration or modification of a car that you are planning on selling some day- you'll never get your money out of it.
The numbers that the websites post is usually referred to as the retail value. That means that this is what you could probably go down to a dealership and buy the car for on any given day. The dealership has their profit, plus any cleanup and repair that they have done to it added to the cost. Usually, it is about 20-25% higher than what the cost would be selling it person to person. Also, most people list their cars as being in a lot better condition than they are. My car could only be considered to be in Fair condition, and yours cannot be considered to be in any better condition than that with the body stuff you stated above. The Wholesale value is another one that some sites list. It is the amount that you should be able to walk into a dealer and get paid for the car on any given day of the week. That price, or maybe a little more, is what you can reasonably expect to get for it.
EDIT: I looked up a 1992 3.1 liter V6 camaro RS on KBB.com. The private party value for one in fair condition is $2,950. I would probably add about $750 for the heritage edition, and say that your car is probably worth about $3,750. That is just a guess.
Also note that on the blue book sites, the ONLY accessories that count towards adding value to a car are options that came from the factory. This is because they do values like a bank or lending company would. Adding a $600 aftermarket stereo or a $1000 set of rims adds ZERO to the value if you do it like the bank or lending co. would. That is not to say that they don't have any added value, just that you are going to have to figure that out on your own.
