vacuum bottle thingie
ok, was doing some work on adding the ground fx in the car, (front facia and fender fx) so, i pull down the old pieces that held up the airdam , after doing so, i saw the big black ball thingie that was hanging down under the front driver's side of the car, it had a vacuum line going into it. Does anyone know exactly what it is and what it does? for the time being i plugged the lil' vacuum hose up, since there's nothing to hold the big ball in place right now. I drove the car, and everything is performing properly so i'm just curious as to what it is. thanx in advance.

Hey, you stole that from me didnt you! I'd also avoid quick gas to brake changes...without that reservoir, you might have momentary vacuum loss..which means momentary power brake failure. I had this happen to me several times, and I had my reservoir intact!

Heh, nah I dont care either...I was just about to be in utter shock if you DIDN'T get it from me...the fact that someone would have that same thought would've just creeped me straight out of my skin.

BTW, I don't have mine hooked up right now. The hose is old and worn out and I havn't gotton around to replacing it. It broke off about 2 inches short of the bottle, so I found a seed from the palm tree next to my house and shoved it in the end until I can get it fixed. Havn't had any problems with it though.

yeah, I guess that would be one way to look at it.

Pine trees... sigh...
Some f-bodies had the vacuum reservoir on the firewall; looks like a rectangular box near the relay bracket on the driver's side. My '86 doesn't have that "orb of power" (LOL) reservoir, it has the one on the firewall. Might be because I don't have cruise control?
[edit] Haha, I meant to say "Palm trees... sigh..." ... not PINE trees... oh well, I guess you guys knew what I meant.
