where do I buy???....

I have heard that some people are using a jamex strut tower brace successfully with the V6. If this is the case where can I buy one. I am doing all of my suspension with performance handling in mind so I want to stiffen up the sloppiness as much as possible. If there is a different kind of strut tower brace that I can use with my V6 I am open to ideas. Thanks a lot in advance.

Dunno if you can find one new again unless they have a web site, but what happened last year is some guy had 500 of them on Ebay for $30/piece.

I had mine on my V6, but it's on my 8 now.

I run an Edelbrock 3pt TPI brace on my MPFI V6 '87 Camaro. Fits perfectly.

You might want to use Edelbrock TBI brace however for a carbed V6.

You can see it partialy in the pic below.
Edit; ill try another pic- see if that works, sorry

$130 for the STB? Sorry, I'd toss in another $50 or so and get the Spohn Subframes first - that'd tighten the WHOLE body, instead of just the front end

They are actually not caps or covers- they are complete Aluminum replacement units for the stock Upper strut mounts. They where special production run from Hunter Motorsports (on these boards) I had them polished after I received them, most came with an anodizing option- I choose bare aluminum.

They have a replaceable Aurora sperical bearing held in place by a snap ring. Their advantage over the stock steel units is they have absolutely no flex in holding position of the strut rod {camber and caster settings hold true} The stock upper strut mounts have a large rubber dounut bushing that supports the strut rod and has flex in hard braking and cornering causing momentary camber and caster flex/change in geometry.

Sorry to say it doesn't appear that he will ever produce any more.
Here's a better pic:

It fit perfectly- bought it through Summit racing- can't recall how much it was, just check Summits' website.

$129.

I'd really recommend subframes before the stb, tho...

I have a BMR strut tower brace on my 3.1L. All that was custom fabbed was shims on both sides. This was in order to clear the A/C. Here's a picture.

I would agree- also, I would recommend solid strut mount bushings (like the camber kit the Ground Control sells) in place of the crappy stock rubber bushing strut mount be installed.

If you install a strut brace with stock strut mount bushings, you are not getting ANY benefit from boxing the strut towers for suspension geometry because the bushings are still flexing- thus making the strut brace useless.

Here is another pic showing the brace (with crap sitting on top of it) Its not shimmed at all- The car is an '87 Camaro. I have heard that the Edelbrock STB I have will not work on Firebirds- Best to use the BMR for the Firebirds.

Man those HMS strut mounts sure are beautiful. I wish I could get them for my car.....
But since they are not produced anymore I guess not.
