Would a distributor from a 1988 2.8 Firebird work in my 1991 3.1 Firebird?
Also would the entire tensioner pulley system from the 2.8 work on my 3.1?
I have the chance to buy this '88 Firebird for $100 from my buddies girlfriend. The car was totalled in March and has been sitting in the mechanics back lot since. Hey brother pretty much took everything out of the interior. The Pully system and Distributer are all the I really need, is it worth it or not?
Thanks, Firebirdjoe

hhhmmm, good question, I think it will work, but remember when u do it do mark where the gears were, or u could be like I was. Spending hours takin' it out and putting it back in turning it clock wise one notch, yeah that sucked.... Just cause it starts up doesn't mean it is in the right notch, ride it down the road and if it feels rough, yep, next notch.... Till you get it back to normal, if u felt that u went through all and it didn't work, then u might want to get a distributor out of either a 3.1 Cam. or 3.1 fbird
Yeah, the motors are exactly the same. The differences are though that the fuel system on the 2.8 has a cold-start injector that feeds off the fuel rail. The 3.1 fuel rail does not have that.
The distributors should work.
The distributors should work.

they have a differant stroke on the crank......then if I'm right the 3.4 has a differant bore
