5speed gear ratios

I cant seem to search the site, and find out what the gear ratios are for the 88+ 5speed for the v6, anyone here have them, or can point me to the posting that shows them.

Damn search button requires 3 letters to make a "word"

That's one hell of a nice first gear... If only second wasn't so far spread!

actually, had my woman do some searching for me for that 4th gen, she found some more info on 3rd while she was at it.

89 lb8

as doward posted

90-92 LO3
1. 2.95
2. 1.94
3. 1.34
4. 1.00
5. .63

93-95 L32 (3.4l 4th gen)
1. 2.95
2. 1.94
3. 1.34
4. 1.00
5. .74

So from my understanding, the 89 one has the lowest low, and highest high correct??

I just realized something.

LO3 is not the 3.1l, it is LH0.

So now I'm stuck back at kinda square one. However, I do know for a fact that I can not use a 4th gen, the splines to the clutch are different. Also uses larger clutch itself.

So, is their a difference between the one that the 2.8l used, and the 3.1l used??

HOLY ****!!

Someone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!!!!

4th gen 3.4 uses a 9 11/16ths clutch disc, 26 SPLINE!!!

I don't think I need to tell anyone the implications of that.

KED85, will a 3.4 Flywheel bolt to a 2.8? It's neutrally balanced. If so, (or hell, even if not - the 3.4 swap I KNOW would bolt up).

Anyone know what this means? Using a 4th gen clutch kit, we could bolt up a 26 splined transmission.

Does the word 'Tremec' mean anything to you?

Ladies and Gentleman, unless I'm wrong, I think we've just stumbled onto the secret of bolting a V8 transmission behind our little V6s.

Granted, we don't have the power from the engine to need that kind of transmission... but who knows?

GM uses a standard tranny/bellhousing bolt pattern, I believe... you'd just use your own bellhousing, to the new tranny.

i know i'm new, but if our v6s don't have the power (exept for maybe downward after he adds a turbo, damn..) whats the point? just to say "yea, shes got a v8 tranny." or are there deeper roots here?

Yes your right, 26 spline clutch. 1.125" diameter or something.
However, the bell housing bolt pattern is different.

Yes a 3.4l flywheel/clutch plate interchange. Its that the pre 88 are external balance, where 89 up is internal.

Tremec bought the design of the t5 from borg-warner.

In my current application I need to stick with the 14 spline, and the bellhousing I have for my slave cylinder.

If I helped anyone else think of some swaping to do, glad I could help :lala:

I understand the bellhousing bolt pattern is different between the V6 and V8 engines... my question, is what about the tranny bolt pattern?

OOO Ok, unsure of that myself. Would require some checking.

Are you talking useing a newer (93-95) t5 inplace of an older one?

That, or -

Using a TR 3550 or TKO in place of the T5!
