why is my car running above 220 all the time now that its hot out? the fan works and the ENTIRE cooling system is not more than 8 months old. and i was wondering if there is one of those fan switches available for a 2.8? i called summit and the guy checked with both the companies that they deal with.... only V8. anyone know where to get one or should i just wire in a toggle switch and control it manually?

Is the air dam still in place under your front bumper? Was it damaged? Oh and the fan switch should work with your car... Summit doesn't know much about us v6 crowd... if it ain't in the books, they won't tell you it fits- they'd hate to have to cause a return because of their -own- fault. That's why we have so many part #s posted here!

i thought only the firebirds had the air dam, hmmmm. come to think of it, i believe mine was ripped off long before i bought it, lol. so the fan switch will work from a V8 on ours huh? now im interested. whats the difference with it that would make them say it wont?

ok nevermind about the fan switch. the guy i talked to said they dont have one, but the website says differently. i love having a V6, lol. so many who dont know jack. i got into an arugment w/ some guy who said the 2.8 --> 3.4 swap. he said they werent even the same block. i ended up winning the argument when he saw this website, mu hahahaha!!!

Uh...they're NOT the same block. You can't make a 2.8 into a 3.4.

i thought the 3.1 was a bored 2.8 and 3.4 was a stroked 3.1 or maybe i have that backwards. 3.1 is a stroked 2.8 and 3.4 is a bored 3.4. but anyways, why do they all share the same characteristics? everything is interchangable. or is it just a similar design?

Well, it is basically the same as saying that the SBC 350 and SBC 400 are not the same block. You can't bore a 350 out to be a 400. Although they have the same external dimensions (for the most part as there are some differences on the outside). Maybe saying the 283 and the 350 are not the same block, though some 283's, but not all, can be bored to 4".

For your question on cooling there is a lot of good info on the cooling board here on TGO. For the most part: need air dam, clean area between A/C condensor and radiator of debris, check engine timing and tune-up, check that fan works and blows in the correct direction, and is the radiator clean on the inside.
