1984 2.8L 2bbl manual Vs 1989 2.8L MFI auto?
I have a 1989 Pontiac Firebird, 2.8L, auto transmission, all stock. I may buy a 1984 Pontiac Firebird with a 2.8L 2bbl but with a manual trany. Wich car will be faster? And can I swap the manual transmission on my 89 bird? Thanks

Well, I know V8 is better, maybe later...
But wich car between the 2 is the fastest?
But wich car between the 2 is the fastest? Both vehicles are probably aged.
Both would be slow especially off line.
Slower of the two?
More than likely the carb version.
Easier to upgrade/hop up, would be the carb & stick car to V8.
It's way more complicated to change a MPFI car to a V8, and for that reason I did the 1995 3.4 engine swaps for my two examples below. My Blazer is a carb version w/3.4 power.
My Blazer had topped out at 95MPH with good tail wind with original 2.8 engine.
My Firebird went about same speed before I blew that 2.8 engine.
My 3.4 Firebird can easily get to 110 plus. Speedo "quits" at 85mph. And currently need to rebuild linkage for better feel.
See if you could find a V8 car same price range.
