car-shipping co. question
I know this isn't V-6 related, but it doesn't fit in any board at all. I'm thinking about buying a 3rd from a guy in Texas. I live in Georgia though and I'd spend the same amount on an airplane ticket and gas/lodging on the way home as if I just paid a shipping company to transport it for me. Have any of yall shipped a car before? I looked at a car-shipping website, and they had links for hundreds of companies. I mean, there were probably 90 companies that were just listed under "A". So if anybody knows of a good company, or knows somebody who's shipped a car, let me know. I'd feel alot more comfortable about this if I could get a reference for a respectable place and talk to somebody who's done it before. Thanks.
Done it twice!
What ya wanna know
Here's what I'll say.
First time
back in 1982.
I shipped my 1975 Opel Fuel Injected Sport Wagon from Philly to LA by truck & train.
Wouldn't ya know it my car gets tied up in the truckers strike & I couldn't claim the car for weeks! AND IT'S WINTER RAINING IN LA AND ALL I HAD WAS MY ENDURO MTORCYCLE!
Second time smooth!
Bought a 1963 Grand Prix, LOADED, in Hollywood, CA & shipped it back to my Brother in Levittown, PA.
By train. I drove to train station & said good bye.
Cost was about $1,00 or less. Both times.
YOU
OPEN LOCAL PHONE BOOK
Call
get quotes
GET INSURANCE FROM OUTSIDE SOURCE FOR THE SHIPPING.
Read that line again.
Enjoy.
PS, yes you ship.
WHY?
Simple.
Ya break down along way & there is the cost of the shipping!
FOR YOU, ship by truck.
FOR YOU
get pics of car being loaded by taken owner or yourself.
For you, hope no one steals anything on car as it sits someplace.
I saw a nice 1969 Corvette that was broken into while awaiting my car pick up at the railroad yard. I saw the car, after it was broken into.
Know what I mean?
SECOND CHOICE FOR SHIPPERS
go to newsstand & find a copy of HEMMINGS MOTOR NEWS.
They have LOTS of shippers in the front section of that publication.
Call several.
