cat

I was wanting to know if i should gut the cat? I have a 2 1/2' custom made y-pipe into the stock cat and the dynomax 2 1/2 exhaust coming out of the cat. Should I gut the cat, go buy a high flow cat, or should I just put a pipe right through the cat and weld it there.

This is contraversal.

I say get a larger stock type replacement. Like from a 350 camaro.

I replaced mine with a high flow, and lost bottom end.
I race a freinds 89 with a straight pipe, and I beat him with my high flow. And I know I have a heavier sterio set up in mine too.

People will say I am full of it, saying I lost trq, but I know how my car drives, and how it handles. IT LOST POWER. Unfourtunately I tossed the cat when i replaced it, as I was not expecting it to do what it did. Trust me, if I still had it, it would be back on in a heart beat.

Whatever you do, DO NOT gut it. Creates turbulence and disrupts the exhaust flow.
