just lettin yall know....

got back last night from picking up my new iroc-z, and my friends lookin to buy my RS, so i won't have the 6-banger much longer. i already miss the gas mileage of the RS, the 5.7 is pretty bad with gas but i can't complain about the power or looks.

well just lettin yall know since i've been saying for like 3 months that i'm just about to get a new car, but that always fell through, but now i actually do have a new one

Why not keep em both???

The money you will save on gas will be money well spent on the new car. Beat the 6 as a daily work car and treat the V8 like a king.

Driving my 6 saves me $20 a week even though I have more fun, more cumfy and kick more azz in my V8 Buick. My V8 is $5 a day car where $5 is about half a tank in the V6.

it'd be nice if i could, i LOVE the red and black combo, but i can't because of insurance. my insurance is pretty cheap considering i'm 19 (no tickets or wrecks, $1200/year), but i can't afford that on 2 cars. plus i just don't have the room for it. at least if i sell it to my friend, i'll know it's not gonna get beat to hell

Nice score man...your V6 looked freakin nice but the IROC looks VERY clean...

I know ALL about the gas thing man... I went from a near-stock V6, to a 302 and 4.10 rear, to a new 302 and same 4.10, plus a cam. Thank *** I have operating O2's and a new EGR valve. Funny part is...the new motor, even with the cam, makes better mileage than the old motor. But the old motor had trashed piston rings and a bent connecting rod.

If your gas mileage sucks..start checking out sensors. It's probably just got an old O2...EGR valve might be frozen up like mine was too. I replaced it and got approx. 4-5 mpg out of it. Just a few tips for ya.

I remember when ya bought that ford for a "deal" and just a motor later n your much happier.

Just had to pick at ya.
Everyone I know who has gotten one for a "deal" got the same "deal"

Lol yeah I hear ya man. Some deal. Although it's amazing...that motor ran a repeatable 14.5 at 95 with a bent connecting rod on Cylinder 8, (the farthest back on the crank)and piston rings that were so burned up from nitrous that they were completely flexible and pliable...not to mention all the piston crowns had blowby marks on them. Dunno how it did it, I really dont.

no, $1200/year is just liability insurance. i think it was around $1600-1700 for full coverage but i didn't have the money for that last year. i will for this year though.

i'm not sure about the gas mileage numbers....all i know is that i stop alot more frequently on the highway than with my 6. the car's a canada car originally (never seen winters though...underbody is cleaner than my southern v-6 car) so the speedometer and odometer read km, so i'm not sure about mpg

i'll check out those sensors like you mentioned later today

Nice IROC! There's one kicking around on the internet somewhere, same as the one you just bought. It's an '89 I believe and to date, it only has 1900 miles! The engine bay is spotless, the interior is perfect. It originally sold for $16000 when it was new, and now the person wants $30000.

$30,000?? I understand it's a nice car, practically factory showroom shape...a hell of a find....but $30,000? Unless it has a blown 383 and pushes out a wee bit over, say, 1000 hp....I'd rather spend the money elsewhere!

I know, but still, is that the cheapest you can get?

Call around, maybe even go to www.clarkhoward.com for some tips.

$30,000........You get almost two Turbo Trans Ams/ Turbo Buicks for that

Yikes dude. I only pay $800 a year for libality on 2 car with uninsured motorist. The second car was real cheap as they know I can only drive one at a time.

lie and say you live alone. your parents are your room mats not members of your household.

What you need to do is get married, be over 25, have 3 vehicles, and absolutely ZERO tickets & you too can get fuul coverage on the 2 main vehicles, liability on the f-body, & pay $83.33/mo for insurance on all three vehicles.

See, simple really  :sillylol:
