Disabelling Fuel Pump
Disabelling Fuel Pump
Ok, I need to get the gas out of my lines, to replace my fuel lines. I have read and been told that you can get the gas out of the lines by removing the fuel pump fuse and then running the car out of gas. When I checked my fuse panel I didn't see this fuse. I'll have to look again, but I had another idea and I want to know if it would work.
What if I disconnected the fuel pump from the wiring harness. Would this work the same way? Would it hurt anything? I don't want to end up replacing the fuel pump.

if you found the connector for the fuel pump on the wireing harness, that would work too.
On my car fuse box, the fuel pump wasnt labeled, so just pull out all the fuse's that arent labeled lol.
and to get the pressure out of the system, just start up the car, it should die in like 2 secs.

I never had a problem with pressure in the lines. It can happen but not likley. I was so scare when I cut my line and then realized how dumb it was. Only if the system had a check valve that held presure would it od that but its not a good thing and GM didn't use that.
The car wont start as its fuel injected. There will be nothing for it to fire off. It sure aint gonna suck the gas out of the injectors.
Yes you will get gas all over you and you will need to plug the line as it will act like a siphone. That or blow into the line with a air compressor [your lips] and break the siphone.
The return line will also have gas in it but it should drain out in a min. Keep a box fan near by so you have a nice breeze.
