heater fan

hey everyone,
this morning i went outside and started prepped to start my car (key on for fuel pump prime then turn) and i noticed that the cars fan (the one for the blower) was on, well as i turned the key to on the fan came on (like it always does following a day of having it on) and then turned off (which was a little odd, since it should have stayed on) Well, i realized this would be a very big problem very quickly since this is winter time, and i definately need the blower to blow, so i pulled the blower out and can't visually tell any defects with the part. Wondering do the blowers go bad more often then the relays or vice versa, and is there anything i should visually look for to see if the blowers bad while it's out. Thanks in advance.

you can jump power directly to it and see if it runs, if it does i doubt that's your problem. you can check the leads to it with a test light to see if you have power to it

So your heater controls were "off", but the blower fan came on? That's weird. Your control head probably has a short in it.

sorry tom, musta wrote that wrong...the heater controls were on , along with the fan blower, and the fan came on then quickly turned off. I pulled the fan out at the hanger today and we checked it on our battery charger, fan didn't come on, so i went to autozone and bought a new fan motor, put it on the car, plugged everything up and boom, fast blowing air. I'm just glad that it wasn't soemthign i had to hunt out to long, if it had been i woulda been ticked w/o major heat and defrost this winter....whoo that woulda sucked. plus my g/f woulda been pissed at me ... and the car.
