questions about my "new" 92 RS V6..
Hi all. This is my first post. I have just bought a 1992 RS V6 5-speed camero. The details: 94K original miles, dark burgundy (looks like original paint), ttops, overall good shape. Recent front and back brakes, new clutch/tranny rebuild @80K.recent exhaust from cat back. Lots of pep, not many rattles. I drove a bunch before buying and it rides better than any. Needs: two front tires, serp belt shows signs of cracking, headlight cracked (works) cat converter breaking up inside (rattles) (still passed emmissions, not even close to limits), removal of tint from side windows(illegal, too dark), Y pipe starting to crack ( I think I can goop it to make it last). Overall I am thrilled with the car. It also came with a brand new still in the boxes set of new 5 star rims and a IROC looking spoiler (not installed, not sure what I am going to do with it)). I paid 2300 for the package.
I do have to say that I wanted a V8 with a five speed. I drove 8 cameros before buying this one, and ALL the v8's were abused and overpriced. Oldest car I considered was an 87 IROC. Now I am not saying that there are not nice v8's out there, I just could not afford them. Any other V6 owners run into this as well? Also, I am over 30, and wonder if like me more older 3rd gen members got V6's to get the 82-92 f body style while getting a better car (I hope) for the $$ and saving a few bucks on insurance?
I am going to do a tomP tuneup (thanks tom) first. I may also look at a cat back exhaust, 2 1/2 flowmasters from what I picked up here as I do like their sound. I was thinking about getting the car painted in the spring. All along I thought "red paint, rear louvers, and a bra", but now that I have the car home I am starting to like the color and how it looks. Also it has the 25th aniversary edition logo on the pasenger side dash next to the RS logo. Were all the 92 RS's "25th aniv edition" cars? If not what the difference?
This is a great site. See you all later.

First off, I praise you for reading and researching before jumping in on repetative questions.. don't see that often =)
2300 for a 92 definitely isn't a bad street price, especially when you're being picky.. It took years of looking and waiting for me to find one with a v8 that I was happy with.. and it was supposedly a DOA until I moved the TPS wires away from the valve cover they were shorting out on.
To my knowledge, all 92s got "anniversary edition" logos on the dash.. I've never seen a '92 without...
Oh.. and I won't go ballistic on the misspelling since your car doesn't have it on any emblems, but it's spelled "camaro", not "camero" ....
And welcome to the boards...

welcome to the circus
Price sounds high to be, but I'm in one of the cheapest states, and can buy running cars for 100 bux. In boston, I assume you have to watch for rust quite a bit, and one w/o rust pulls a premium.
Tom tune up is best place to start as your research showed.
The 2 92 camaros I have seen, one v6, one v8, both rs, and said "aniversary" on the dash.
I bought mine because I thought I could fix the transmission myself, and car was cheap. Ended up not being the case

was in the neigborhood and notice he called it a "camero"
food for thought ..... and 2000 would have been better but u have to admit u got the rims and the spoiler theres the 300 extra... V6's are better (but as u can see i have a 6 also so thats the influence) but i dont think ive seen any v8 with stick shift.. fellas??? i might be wrong...
P.S. you can always do the "v6 to V8 Swap boggie" lol
Welcome
