Fuel Pump Stuff

Dangit!!!! Sonar and I replaced my fuel pump today with a Carter unit. Followed the wiring directions to a "T". I have a slight problem though....the directions were WRONG!!!!!! the way they say to wire it is obviously backwards (pump comes on, no fuel though). Appparently, the polarity is reversed. My question is, is there a good way to fix this little mistake without removing the fuel pump? Does anyone know which of the 3 wires to the connector harness do what (like, maybe just switch wires around on the harness???). Those basturds.....If you change a fuel pump and replace it with a Carter unit, wing it..... Directions are for dingbats (still havn't forgot that Chiltons crap). Thanks for any help.

How could you switch the wires up???

The gray wire is for the pump. The purple wire is for the fuel level sender. The black wire is obviously ground.

No I meant how did you switch up the wires in the first place?? I've never installed an aftermarket pump, but howcome you didn't just remove the old pump and plug the new one in??

You need a set of connector pin removers to back the wires out of the connectors.
