What should I do?

I was thinking of sand plasting me rims on my firebird because stripping them is just not working. What is the difference in glass beading and in regular sand blasting (the black stuff) What would either of them do to my rims and what would look better I know this isn't really for this board, but what should i do?

your not suppose to sand blast them. unless you are getting them chromed. But you just need to polish them. check out the detailing forum they have something on that.

I have to strip the clear coat, it polishing just isn't cutting it. So I was told to glass bead it and then give it a nice polish. What do you think? But what is the differnce between class beading and regular sand blasting with the (black sand). Thanks again

glass bead doesn tend to polish mosre then strip but it will take off the clear coar.

The other kind will just strip it and leave a rough surface.

What aare you gonna do with them after blasting? glass bead might make the surface to smooth for paint.

I plan on polishing them up with a fine wire brush on a drill then polishing them with alumium polish? What you think i should do now? Today i did a sample on an old rim like mine, it did the same as you said, but kinda looked better on the glass bead after i went over it with the fine brush and the other sand does not shine up much at all. My question is which should i use and which one will shine up nice? Thanks

If the glass bead is taking off the clear fine then go ahead and use it. It will polish it better. THe other will make the surface kind of rough and harder to polish.

If you were gonna paint or powder coat I would use regular.
For a polish job, glass bead is great.

Thanks man. So the glass bead will diff do a better job for polishing. I do not plan on powder coated. Just buy some polish and really cleaning them up. I have honey comb rims, so i am painting the inner part black like orginal. Will the paint stick to the surface on that part if i glass bead it? Do i polish them paint or paint then polish? I new to this but hoping it will come out well. When i glass bead it will there be a need to sand or can i go straight to polishing? Thanks again
