Cars Running Weird
Tonite is my anniversary with my lady friend so I was taking her up to a little make out spot for alittle fun. Well my car was being alittle hesitant when i would hit the gas all night. And when i was turning into the "Make out" area the car just stalled on me. I had a half tank a gas, and I also had just turned my high beams on about 5 - 10 seconds earlier. THen i put her in park and tried to start it. and it was just going click...(jiggled the shifter and steering wheel) click... click. so i turned it all the way off and then it fired back up. Then when i was sitting at the make out spot i left the car on just incase it would act up again and i noticed my tack was staying steady at about 1000 give or take a few and would drop down like 2 or 300 rpms and then come back up but was doing it repeatadly. Any ideas what could be wrong with her???
Thanks
Mitch
PS when it had stalled my CD player and lights were still working fine.

No check engine lights? Maybe your idle air control valve is slow....but that might have only caused the stall, not the bulk of your problems.
The rpms stumbling like that at idle sounds like a misfire...check your plugs, wires, cap, and rotor and see if you find anything wrong. 'Hesitant' also sounds like an ignition-end problem to me.

Oh yea i have a check engine light. Its for the MAT (I know whats wrong there) the MAP sensor (no idea), and my digital EGR system or poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit. So any of those sound like they could be a problem. Ive been asking for 2 weeks what i should do about them and no one has answered so i figure why bother adding them sorry.
Thanks

(I know I wouldn't be able to! I'd be trying to figure out what was wrong with the engine... haha)You've been messing with the stereo lately, right? I wonder if your battery cable(s) were brittle, and if you were moving the cables, maybe you disturbed what was left of them. Know what I mean? Also check for corrosion/loose battery terminal/etc.
What gets me about the whole failure is that when you tried to re-start the car, all you got was clicking. If EGR/MAP/MAT was to blame, the starter would've still spun up.

Have your alternator LOAD tested, meaning AMP not just volts.
Check your battery cables ( I just fought this one for 4 months
)
Fix the mat/map, and dont fret the digital EGR, you have to take out a loan to get a new one.

Your drill?! You don't *drill* your battery terminals in and call it good. You take a small 8mm wrench and make SURE it's nice and snug. (but not too snug.. battery terminals can pop out. not pretty. usually requires alot of internal rot to get to that state though)
MAP code is a biggy.. check the vacuum line running to your MAP sensor on the firewall. Check the electrical connectors on the sensor. If everything looks good, replace the sensor. MAP will cause huge issues.
MAT sensor should be on your intake piping. Check electrical connection and replace if neccessary
