Depends on the parts...

Suspension parts? Interior parts like Carpet & Seats & Plastic? Body parts like fenders & bumpers and doors and power windows? Anything from 82-92. (But please never put a Firebird outer body part on your Camaro! ) Only V8 piece you shouldn't put on your V6 car are the suspension's springs; v8 springs will raise your v6 car!

Fuel injection parts? 85-89.

Ignition stuff? Anything 85-up specified for "GM remote coil HEI", including the 87-up V8's.

Exhaust system? 82-92 V6's, and any V8 with a single catalytic convertor. (Some hi-po V8's got dual cats)

Factory Motor parts? Wow.. this could be a long list... to keep me from nit-picking, I'll say anything 85-92. (I'm leaving out details like the crankshaft, etc) 82-84 parts (carbureted) were not as powerful as 85-92 parts (fuel injection).

Rear axles? 82-92, but the options changed thru the years (gear ratios, posi, axleshaft spline count, brake systems) so if you do any junkyard digging, you gotta know specifically what you want. But if you blow up your axle and don't care what you get, any 82-92 will work.

YOu can always hit the little button with your mouse, make sure you choose the "V6 Forum" from the forum list, and then put in the kind of part you're looking for.

Ya you should be able to pass smog with no problems. If i were you i would jsut go and get a new high flow CAT only 80.00 then you will get a HP gain and not run into any problmes with a used CAT.
