Distributor O ring/Installation
What is the size of the distributor oring? What is the difference between the RED O rings and the black ones? Also what is an easy installation for this so i can get my timing right and the oil pump shaft to line up with the DISt correctly the New distributor has a allen wrench stly looking connector on the gear is this the same with all out cars? I have a 91 RS

Dist o-ring is a 1 inch "inside diameter" o-ring, 1/8th inch thick.
As long as you (a) make the two marks on your dist as you pull it out, and (b) don't crank/turn the engine, you can just drop the dist right back in without a problem.
1. With just the dist cap off, first make a mark to indicate the position of the distributor. Make a mark on the distributor plate, and a corresponding mark on the firewall.
2. Next, make a mark on the car body, not on the distributor, that indicates where the rotor is aimed.
3. Now lift up the dist slowly. (For those with 85-89 2.8's reading this message, unplug the cold start injector at the base of the distributor first, it might "lock" the distributor into the motor.) As you lift the dist up, the rotor will turn slightly. After the rotor stops turning, make ANOTHER mark, on the car body, of this second position.
(By the way, these two rotor positions are created by the angular slots of the distributor gear)
When you go to put the dist back in, hold the dist over the hole in the intake manifold. Align the mark on the distributor with the mark you made in step #1. Align the rotor with the mark you made in step #3.
Slowly seat the distributor all the way down. When the dist gear engages the cam gear, the rotor will slowly rotate so it points to the mark you made in step #2.
Final check is to make sure the mark you made in step #1 lines up with the distributor body, and that the mark you made in step #2 lines up with the rotor.
And if you've got a timing light, definately re-check the timing.
The red o-rings are fuel-resistant; I'd imagine they might last longer than a black o-ring as far as oil's concerned.
