Welcome to thirdgen.org. As of right now your only choices for Headers would either be old school Hooker headers which are not easy to find, or PF&E but which are not cheap. Towards the end of the summer Pacesetter is releasing a set. As for exhaust I have a flowmaster 80 series muffler. Most people prefer the Dynomax Turbo Muffler, But i'm happy with the growl i get. Other stuff you could do is drop in the Mighty K&N's and a full tune up before you get to modding. You could swap the cam, rockers, pushrods, Ignition coil, etc. It won't be cheap but it'll move a little faster. There is alot more you could do but i came to blank.

welcome to the boards....there was a sticky about common v6 mods at the top of the page at one point and time, however i'm not sure if it's still there. The best bet to getting to know the lil' six is to do a full tuneup, you'll get a lot of your own questions answered about working on the car, and what will be doing what ( don't know how much mechanical experience you have) after the cars in good working tune you can begin your modifications. Just about anything and everything can be modded on these cars, the only problem often is price, availability, and fabrication. Often times things are done to these cars are custom fabbed by individuals such as the PF&E headers.....and they truely are a gorgeous piece of work too. They do however demand the price, but for the work, design, etc it'd be worth it, however headers are only going to benefit a motor that needs them. Put a set on a sbc and you won't see much of a gain, but a set on a sbc w/ a bigger carb, better 4bbl intake, and bigger cam, and your gains will be out the wazoo. A full exhaust system is a good place to start, catback setup can free up a few ponies etc. But the big deal, get that thing in good tune.

no, the carb was just an example of getting power. Simply saying that headers on a stock v6 normally aren't going to yield significant power gains (if any at all). In order to actually benefit from headers your car nomrlaly will "NEED" headers, that is, you're now brining in more air through your intake than your exhaust system can handle, i was simply using that small block chevy as an example.

IF you do enough searching around the boards here, you'll find just about everything you're looking for. There might be a sticky about the headers, if the price is to high, you can wait for pacesetter's, etc. To really need the headers, i'd recommend a cam change, crane 2030 was the one of choice, although many are now going a little more wild. The filters are either, there's a K&N drop in filter (which simply goes in your stock airbox) and there's also a K&N cone filter, which can be adapted with soem Pvc piping, look up "v6 cold air" Then there's the type that will work with a ram air hood, and the ram air K&N box. dynomax is also the preference here, although i have flowmaster, ( i just like the sound of it) but at the same time, i don't think i've ever heard a dynomax, especially not in person, so i really couldn't tell you which i'd enjoy more, just know i'm not disappointed with my flow. good luck.
