Looking at a 91 bird

Granted it is a 305 TBI unit.... but here's the deal on it.

Keep in mind that I have yet to see or look over the car in person...

Guy got it from an Army friend, went to Germany and has not been back in years, but has the title in his name. He said the car ran "OK" then suddenly stopped running.
Started messing around with it, swapped a few parts got it running again. Swapped the CAM to a NON Computer friendly one and the car stopped running. He is not sure if the Distrib is off, or it is the cam... anyway, from what he has said good body, decent interior, new tires, good trans (Auto).
Only wants 5-600 for it.

Have any heard of the non Comp friendly cam shutting down a motor like this? I dunno, that's why I am asking. It kinda makes sense to me though, but want more opinions...
He said it has something to do with the lobe seperation and the ECM not running with the cam...

Hell I might just get it and swap to Carb anyway...
