Where's my coolant going?

I've noticed that my coolant seems to be disappearing on me. I topped up my rad a couple of weeks ago, drove for a while and now it needs more fluid. I've checked for leaks (none), there's no puddle under the passenger feet (replaced heater core in spring) but I have noticed a strong smell of coolant when i put the heat on in the morning. Kind of like it's burning. Could I possibly have a head gasket problem? I didn't notice anything in the oil either.

you could have a slow leak on the inside from the heater core, the rare slow one that doesn't turn the pass fotwell into a wading pool.

Who the hell designed GM heater cores to dump all of the coolant on to the paseger side floor?!!!!!!!! What the hell were they thinking?!!!!!!! I've had to get one in each of my S-10s and they are a bitch of a job, so I hear. My intake manifold gasket was leaking also. You may want to check that. I assume you checked your thermostat housing, radiator, hoses and clamps...Won't a blown head gasket make the exhaust spit out white smoke?

Could also be a pinhole in one of the heater hoses. My 83's AC belt kept nicking the one heater core hose.
