LOL, i'm having a guy here in houston make me some OEM style decals for the back bumper that read 2.8L MPFI INTERCEPTOR.... ought to keep people guessing and I'll probably get a few "I heard of those" lol. My how I wish I had the money and time to turbo the 3.4 I guess I'm going to have to settle with nitrous...I found out today that my motor has near perfectly balanced compression (150-156 psi on all cylinders..like it matters) I'm hoping it will blow up so I can build a forged bottom end and get those heads on in one shot

Now I like that. I will remember it.
I just would like having a car that says "2.8l MPIF" but is realy a turboed 3.4L.
Now a 5-speed would be an intercrptor, with an insane top speed.
If the tree hugger had it there way we would all drive battrey powerd cars, wipe our asses with plastic toilet paper and have a bar code on or a chip in our necks maybe both. And there would be a lot of standing on a conveyor belt for some reason.

LOL, Dean, we'll just tune it well, and tell the Smog ****'s it was a 'Dealer Package'

Emblems? I never thought of that. Or stickers. I'd just like some 2.8 Turbo emblems. LOL, maybe later. I still like telling everyone it's just a V6.

Dale, the 3 wire connection will be well documented, but you will have to splice a line or two for it. Until I actually get the Delco O2, I can't really say - but it'll be easy as pie, and the kit will come with all necessary connectors.

Am_91, that would be great! We'll have to pick you up a memcal adapter, then I'll bring my prom equipment/laptop and we'll do some tuning! Maybe I can get some of these pipes coated while we work on it

all this turbo talk just got depressing for me. i had to order new 1/4 panels and im going to have to rebuild my trans this winter. looks like ill be waiting till spring. but the trans will be able to handle it after, so itll be worth it.

are you only going to do GP or will it be available for single purchases too?

I'm still deciding on that... the price of the kits, single, will be a bit higher than the GP - simply because of the time/effort/extra shipping on materials. But yes, I am still leaving that as an option.

2 years of R&D
2 years of saving, building
6 months of fighting, tuning.

Man. Pulling the 350z, and seeing everyone's reaction at the track, when they saw what I was trapping, on a V6!!! was well worth it man.

Not to mention the support and love of TGO's V6 forums!

I notice not a person has said anything about 'shoulda went with a V8' I'm already there, and more power is just a turn of a screw away.

Well, that could be due to how I handle such cases

rofl - Yes, Tech, you have a BIG hand in that. I can't help but think - the results speak for themselves.

Just for some comparo -

(Off Fl-Thirdgen.org's timeslip database)

I know BitchinCamaro's '89 IROC is pretty stock - trapping 92.73
'87 GTA = 93.45
'91 Formula 350 = 93.44
'90 IROC-Z = 95.50
Flathirdgen's Nitrous 305 (100 shot, IIRC) is running 97.835.

Look at that.. 100 shot on a 305, to beat a little V6. I'll let the results speak for themselves.

I have no clue but wonder if you could use an exhaust cut out in the system. You know them y pipes so you can by pass the exhaust at the track.

N E ways. i was thinking maybe you could sell more of you made a kit with one so someone could bypass the turbo and run like normal for passing EPA test. Then when they want boost, just flip the cut out the other way???

I have no idea how well it would or could work. Just might sell a few more if it was turn off-able.

It's easy to turn off - just don't floor it. I don't think an open exhaust is EPA legal, anyway....

Well ya, don't run it open. run it back into the stock exhaust pipe.

Its will be close by any ways. Instead of the gas going through the turbo, then into the exhaust, it bypass the turbo n goes out the exhaust.

Though you may need to do something like big computer over clockers do. Rig up a dual prom circuit so you can switch which prom your using on the fly.

It would add about $700 to your kit and more work but it may mean the difference in selling 100 kits vs a few 1000.

i don't see why you think some setup like this would be necessary, gumby. A. it would be difficult to do...all that open space in front of the engine is nearly filled up with the turbo kit. B. why? if you don't want to run boost...go easy on the pedal or turn the little screw to drop boost! also, you wouldn't need dual proms anyways...the chip is programmed on the vacuum side and the boost side...it will run with or without boost.

People in smog check zones would be able to pass easier.

Don't most people have a hard enough problem passing emmsion for the EPA without having a turbo plus all the extra use gas goodies???

I am just thinking of others. I don't have EPA test but there are more people in EPA zones then not.

People in cali, not only get hooked up to machines, they get visual inspections to. They pop the hood, see turbo. Go to books and see that was not a stock option, you fail. End of story.

We're MAF based - so it comes with a compressor bypass valve, instead. Still makes noise, just not as loud

As for the smog side of things - the EPA's sniff test is not done with enough throttle to hardly spool the turbo, AFAIK. People with visual inspections will lose automatically. I'm not building this kit to make the air cleaner - I'm building this kit to whoop some V8s, and some newer DOHC motors.

Honestly, close to $3k is hard enough to pull out on a kit. $3700 is just going to make it that much harder. A 2.5" cutout can be installed before the turbo, if one desires - just order it up from Summit, and install between the Y and the Turbo.

DANG IT! Dyno Day's getting postponed... They're having trouble with their computer, from what I understand... could be as far as the beginning of December. I'll have to see what I can do, as far as finding another dyno in the meantime.
