Valve covers and up?

As you know I'm in the process of putting my motor back together. I have to get it all down tomorrow because I need to go to work the following day, so hopefully this thread will get some good reponses when I put the valve covers back on do i put RTV on the gasket where it mates on the valve cover and on the part where it mates the head or just on the valve cover? And how long should it sit for? And on the lower and up plemun on gaskets do I use RTV? Thanks guys

According to the GM service manual: place a dot of RTV on the cylinder head intake manifold split line, (sort of a joint in the back of the flange of the head where it meets the intake manifold). This is the only RTV you use. Make sure the valve covers, and head flange are clean of oil and dirt. Brake clean on a rag works well here. Put the gasket over the valve cover studs, place the cover carefully on top, next the load spreaders, and the nuts. Tighten the valve cover nuts until the load spreaders are flat, and then stop. Don't over tighten. Done
